The cost of hair loss medication can vary widely. Finasteride, for instance, costs around $20 for a supply of 30 tablets, while minoxidil (Rogaine) costs $50 per bottle. While the cost of hair loss hair loss treatment varies, the cost per prescription and generic version of finasteride can be anywhere from $3 to $10.
There are some key differences between the generic and the brand-name versions of finasteride. Brand-name drugs are prescribed for treating male pattern hair loss, while generic versions include minoxidil and finasteride. This can lead to significant cost savings and a lower overall price point for these drugs.
Finasteride costs around $20 for a supply of 30 tablets, while minoxidil (Rogaine) costs $50 per bottle. While the cost per tablet can be anywhere from $3 to $10, the generic version costs less than the brand-name version and can cost more.
Minoxidil (Rogaine) comes in several strengths. Minoxidil is available in a 2.5% strength and 5% strength. The 5% strength is used for the treatment of hair loss and the 5% strength is prescribed for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. The 2.5% strength is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss and the 2.5% strength is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
While the cost of finasteride can vary, the cost of minoxidil is comparable. Minoxidil is $50 per bottle, while finasteride costs around $20 for a supply of 30 tablets. While the generic version of finasteride may cost as little as $3 per pack, the brand-name version can cost between $2 and $5 per pack. When considering finasteride and minoxidil, it's essential to consider their effectiveness. Finasteride is a medication used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia and also used to treat hair loss in men.
Minoxidil is one of the most effective hair loss treatments available, and it can be prescribed by doctors. Minoxidil is a 5% topical solution, which is applied to the scalp twice daily. The medication may be used for hair regrowth or as part of a combination treatment plan. Some doctors may prescribe a 1% or 5% solution.
The effectiveness of these two medications can be attributed to their distinct ingredients and delivery mechanisms. Finasteride is more potent and more effective than minoxidil. For example, finasteride (generic Propecia) has been shown to have the same effectiveness as minoxidil (Rogaine). In contrast, minoxidil is more likely to be effective for treating hair loss.
According to, the hair loss medication for men costs between $6 and $10 per month. This can vary depending on several factors, such as the individual's medical history, preferences, and budget. While finasteride (5%) is a cost-effective option for treating hair loss in men, it may not be appropriate for men who need to maintain their hair or for men who have certain medical conditions or who have taken certain medications.
Another difference lies in the way finasteride and minoxidil work. Finasteride works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a hormone that causes hair loss. By reducing DHT levels, finasteride helps to prevent further hair loss and hair loss from occurring.
Minoxidil is not an effective hair loss treatment in men. It's important to note that minoxidil is only effective on the scalp and that it should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
When it comes to the cost of finasteride and minoxidil, both generic and brand-name versions of finasteride can be purchased. The cost can vary, depending on the dosage and the location. The cost of finasteride varies from $1 to $5 per tablet. The cost of minoxidil varies from $5 to $30 per tablet, depending on the strength and the pharmacy.
Hello guys, I was prescribed finasteride by my doc. I’ve been taking it for 5 years and it’s been my doc’s experience that I’m very satisfied with how the medication worked and the results it brought. The results it brought were amazing and I would never stop taking it. I’m so glad I found this forum and would recommend it to others.
I am so sorry I didn’t answer this in the proper way. I really don’t know how I’d react to this. Can anyone recommend this?
December 31, 2011, 11:30pm3Hi guys,
I’ve had the same results as you guys. I’m on 5 mg/day for 1 year and have had it for 5 years.
I’ve also had the same results with minoxidil. I was taking minoxidil for 2 years, and then I switched to finasteride for 5 years and I have been on it for 5 years now. I’ve had great results but I can’t really pinpoint any effect on my hair or scalp.

I’m trying to find the best hair loss forum out there, but I would like to get some feedback from those who are interested in this forum. So far I’ve had 2 people who are very satisfied with me, but they are not seeing any results at all.
Hi Guys,
I’m not exactly sure what you mean by "not seeing any results at all" but here it is:
I take finasteride at the recommended dose, and it works well for me. I don’t see anything specific that I’d like to see. I’ve also been taking minoxidil for 2 years, and I’ve been seeing some hair loss and slight scalp thinning at the temples.
I’ve also been on finasteride for about 3 months and have noticed some hair thinning at the temples. I don’t see any significant difference between the 2. I’ve been seeing more thinning on my crown and hairline, but I think it’s because the thinning is starting to subside. I think I may have to stop taking it or something.

RefreshFinasteride is used to treat men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and male pattern hair loss, also called androgenetic alopecia. BPH is caused by an enlarged prostate. Men with BPH usually have difficulty urinating, a decreased flow of urination, hesitation at the beginning of urination, and a need to get up at night to urinate. Finasteride will make these symptoms less severe and reduce the chance that prostate surgery will be needed. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines such as an alpha-blocker to treat BPH. For men with hair loss, finasteride will increase the number of scalp hairs but will not increase the amount of body hair.
Finasteride blocks the action of an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme changes testosterone to another hormone that causes the prostate to grow or hair loss in males. It will increase testosterone levels in the body, which decreases prostate size and increases hair growth on the scalp. The effect of finasteride on the prostate and scalp will only last as long as the medicine is taken. When it is stopped, the prostate begins to grow again and the hair will be lost.
